AO4 - Objectives and Funding

Analyse the key differences and similarities between the objectives and funding of public, private and voluntary sector sport organisations.

For this task you will need to choose 3 sporting organisations from different sectors.  Example, you may choose Sport England from the Public Sector, Fitness First from the Private Sector and your local sports team such as Coombe Down RFC for your Voluntary Sector.  For each organisation you have to complete the provided proforma using the bullet points below as a guide.

Examples of key differences and similarities between objectives:

• Organisational aims – What are they trying to achieve? Do they have a mission statement?

• Target groups – Who are they aiming at and why?

• Standards of facilities and services – What facilities do they own? To what standard are they maintained and ran?

• Pricing structure – How or do they charge the general public?

• Extent of partnerships with other sectors – Do they have any links with any organisations that promote themselves or sport in any way?

Examples of key differences and similarities between funding:

• Grants – government, non-government

• Loans – from members, supporters or financial institutions

• Membership subscriptions

• Lottery funding –

• Private investment and donations

For all of the above state from whom did they receive the money and what did they have to do in order to qualify for it?

Once you have completed a proforma for each organisation you must compile your work into essay format (At least 1 side of A4) and use the below question as your title.
